The vision of Juvenile Justice is to see troubled youth made new through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, The Opportunity When youth are arrested, they are at one of the lowest points in their lives. Being removed from their normal influences creates an openness to change that often does not exist on the outside. Denver Area YFC's Juvenile Justice program is unique in that we have access to all state facilities in Denver as chaplains to these young people. Over 900 youth accept Christ each year thanks to the dedicated ministry of 65+ volunteers and staff - and numerous partners like you. The Need Every year more than 10,500 young people are incarcerated in Colorado. 50-60% of those will end up back in juvenile justice or prison within 3 years of thier release. Further, over 700 incarcerated youth in the Denver area, do not have access to a normal church service, Bible study, or caring mentor as a mean for growth in their relationship with Jesus Christ. There is agreement among those who labor in this field, that the only way for an incarcerated you to truly turn from their life of crime, is through the power and grace of God. That is why Denver Area YFC is committed to creating effective outreach, discipleship, and aftercare programs that will forge relationships with youth inside the correctional facilities and continue those relationships as these youth transition back to their communities. Working together with churches and like minded partners, YFC in Denver coordinates church services, Bible studies, wilderness and other special programs, equips menotr, and trains volunteers in order to bring the life-transforming message of Jesus Christ to incarcerated and previously incarcerated youth of the Denver area.
