YFC GOLF-A-THON 2009
The Mike Bowles Memorial

The golf-a-thon is open to anyone - male or female, young or old, beginner or professional. You will play 36 holes of golf in 1 day and will recieve complimentary breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And the best part is....it's FREE to the golfer. All we ask is that you find people to sponsor you as you play. If you have 36 people support you at $36 each ($1 per hole), you will raise approx. $1,300. Prizes will be awarded to those who raise the most funds as well as golf skills. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year but it can only happen because of people like you! The staff at YFC must raise 100% of their salary and ministry funds. This is not easy, especially in the difficult economic times. Would you prayerfully consider playing in the golf-a-thon this year or sponsoring one of our staff as they play? Please fill out the form below to register. Once we recieve your registration, an information packet and sponsor sheet will be mailed to you shortly. Thank you! OVERNIGHT LOCK-IN was a BIG hit
January 16-17, 10pm-7am
We recently put on on overnight lock-in for high school students at Mount Saint Mary's Knott Arena. We had 110 students come out for the event, despite the frigid temperatures! National recording artist WILLET lead worship and talked about the work they do in Africa helping children with AIDS. There were volleyball, basketball, and dodgeball tournaments, as well as swimming and raquetball. We had pizza for a midnight snack and donuts in the morning.Toward the end of the night, most relaxed and watched the Dark Night or played Guitar Hero. Overall, it was a great night and we are looking forward to next year!

House Bill 936- Maryland Legislature
This is to make you aware that Delegates Serafini, Bartlett, Donoghue,Myers, Shank,Stull and Weldon of our area have sponsored a bill that affects students rights of Religious expression in Public Schools.
Our impression of this bill is that it will impact students we work with as it relates to their ability to express their religious viewpoint in public schools. A few excerpts from the proposed bill are..... For the purpose of requiring each county board to treat a student's voluntary expression of a religious viewpoint in the same manner the board treats expression of a secular viewpoint; prohibiting a county board from discriminating against a student based on a religious viewpoint... Other provisions include...(these are excerpted and not in context from the bill) 1. (this bill implied) ...allowing students to organize certain religious gatherings to the same extent that other noncurricular student groups are allowed; 2. requiring religious groups be given the same access to school facilities as is given to other noncurricular groups; 3. requiring religious groups to be allowed to advertise or announce meetings to the same extent that secular groups are allowed to advertise or announce meetings 4. establish a method, based on neutral criteria, for the selection of student speakers at school events and graduation ceremonies 5. A student may express the student's beliefs about religion in homework, artwork, and other written and oral school assignments free from discrimination based on the religious content of the student's school assignments. 6. students may organize prayer groups, religious clubs, "See You At The Pole" gatherings, and other religious gatherings before, during and after school to the same extent that students are permitted to organize other noncurricular student activities and groups. Please be in prayer about this bill. It is extremely important to students to have the right to express their religious views in school. In the past, there has been confusion about many of the provisions proposed in this bill. I highly recommend you read it and express your opinion to your delegate regarding this significant legislation. See You At The Pole Results

Across Central Maryland, students heeded the call to gather at their high schools and middle schools. Here are the number of people who showed up to pray at each school in Frederick County this year: Ballenger Creek MS- 9 If your school isn't listed, that doesn't mean there wasn't a SYATP held there, it just means no one reported numbers to our office.
