December 1-7
Feet to Fit the Path
Even though it may be painful, let's pluck out the hooks of our culture's
lures. Let us educate ourselves on how to serve our neighbor rather than how to
get ahead of him.
December 8-14
Merry Christmas?
Why do we so often try to make Christmas white, or glistening with ornaments
and garland? Why do we have parties, eat fancy desserts, burn sweet smelling
candles and give elaborate gifts? Why do we send cards with twinkling stars,
snow covered spruces, decorated trees, cute manger scenes? Why do we have two
weeks vacation?
December 15-21
Herod is Dead, Jesus
Lives
In direct opposition to the materialism exemplified by Herod is
the servanthood exemplified by Jesus. We need to dedicate our lives to serving
Jesus and not the material possessions that Herod thought were so important.
December 22-28
The Lamb Who Brings
Peace
Because Jesus was willing to walk through the Sheep Gate as the
lamb of sacrifice, my dad was able to peacefully enter the ?gates of heaven?
cleansed by the blood of the Lamb of whom my Dad often sang.
December 29-Jan.4
The Manger
Transition
There are so many subtle ways that we have recreated Jesus
into our own image, putting hay into the manger so to speak. What we really need
is to be able to see the Lord as he is, and allow that vision to transform
us.
